CoolSculpting® Elite

Reduce stubborn areas of fat without surgery or downtime.

Have you worked out, eaten right and even tried gimmicks from so-called health “gurus” to get the physique you want, only to be frustrated by pockets of fat that refuse to budge? CoolSculpting changed the aesthetics industry forever when it offered a noninvasive way to eliminate unwanted fat cells. Now, it’s changing the game again with CoolSculpting Elite, a new technology that delivers better results in less time.

Dr. Burns has been involved with CoolSculpting for over 15 years, since before the device even had its name. As a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for CoolSculpting, Dr. Burns has witnessed every evolution of the device and been involved in multiple FDA trials bringing new advancements to market.

Dr. Burns is also the medical director for the CoolSculpting University in Austin, where providers come to be educated about the technology and latest techniques. As a result of his extensive history with CoolSculpting, Resurrect Skin MD was the first practice in Texas and the Southwest to receive the new Elite device. We can proudly say our staff are some of the most educated and experienced CoolSculpting providers in the region.

What Is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is a nonsurgical, noninvasive way to reduce fat and contour your body. It does this by freezing fat cells through a process called cryolipolysis, which allows your body to process the treated fat through its natural waste elimination system. Multiple studies show that CoolSculpting results in reducing 20-25% of the fat targeted in the applicator in each treatment. The result is a reduction of stubborn fat in the area.

Believe it or not, the beginnings of CoolSculpting can be traced back to two doctors in the 1970s. They observed that children who frequently ate popsicles could develop dimples in their cheeks, suggesting a link between cold temperatures and fat loss.

In 1999, two Harvard scientists who were inspired by this research began developing a way to selectively freeze and destroy isolated pockets of fat without harming the skin or surrounding tissue, based on the fact that fat is more sensitive to cold than other tissues in the body. Their work eventually became what we know today as CoolSculpting.

What Is the Difference Between CoolSculpting Elite and the Original CoolSculpting?

At RSMD, we have the latest and most advanced CoolSculpting technology, the CoolSculpting Elite.

The applicators have undergone a redesign since the original CoolSculpting machine. The new Elite applicators maintain even better contact with the skin, which translates to better results and a more comfortable procedure. The applicators come in seven different shapes and sizes to better fit the contours of different body types.

Other design features have been added to both enhance safety and aid in comfort for the patients. Better contact leads to less need for suction and less discomfort. These changes have not only improved results but have made a safe and comfortable procedure even more so.

CoolSculpting Elite also has two applicators instead of one. This allows us to target two areas of stubborn fat at once, improving the efficiency of the treatment and shortening the treatment time. We also have two machines at RSMD, which gives us even more treatment options for our patients. We can treat up to four locations simultaneously or provide “couples” treatments for two people at once, which has become a popular trend.

What Are the Benefits of CoolSculpting?

Why is CoolSculpting one of the most popular noninvasive body contouring treatments in the world? Here are a few of the reasons:

  • Most scientific data of any nonsurgical body
  • treatment in the world
  • No incisions or anesthesia
  • Treats many areas of the body
  • Can be done over a lunch break
  • Little to no downtime
  • Long-lasting results
  • Fat reduction can mimic liposuction results in many patients who are willing to be treated to “completion”

The additional benefits of CoolSculpting Elite over the original CoolSculpting include:

    Improved patient comfort
  • Better and faster results
  • Quieter machine

Coolsculpting is likely the most successful technology in the history of aesthetics to date, and for a reason… it works! It is the most researched fat reduction technology in the industry and remains the gold standard in nonsurgical fat reduction and body contouring.

Am I a Good Candidate for CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is designed to reduce fat in areas of the body that don’t respond to diet and exercise. It is not a weight loss treatment; it is meant to target specific pockets or bulges of stubborn fat. You will see the best results if you lead a healthy lifestyle and are at or near your ideal bodyweight. CoolSculpting is not ideal in morbidly obese patients.

Your RSMD provider will determine whether you’re a candidate for CoolSculpting and develop your personalized treatment plan during your consultation.

What Should I Expect During My CoolSculpting Treatment?

The CoolSculpting Elite procedure is very simple. All you have to do is relax in one of our comfortable treatment chairs, and the device takes care of the rest.

Your RSMD provider will place the applicators on your skin in the selected areas. You will feel suction and intense cold as the treatment begins. After approximately 10 minutes, the area will be numbed and your comfort should improve. You can read, listen to music, watch a show or do some work on your laptop until the treatment is complete. If you’re Dr. Burns, you can even record a video during your CoolSculpting treatment!

A typical treatment with CoolSculpting Elite lasts about 35 minutes for each area that’s treated. Total treatment time will depend on how many areas are treated during your appointment and how many areas are treated at the same time.

What Is the Downtime for CoolSculpting?

There will be no required downtime after your Dallas CoolSculpting procedure. Most people can return to their usual daily activities right away.

You may notice some residual redness, swelling, tenderness, tingling or numbness in the treated area following a CoolSculpting session. These side effects are usually mild and temporary. Our team will ensure you are thoroughly informed of all potential side effects associated with CoolSculpting before your treatment.

Are CoolSculpting Results Immediate?

Patience is required to see the best results from your CoolSculpting treatment. Although some patients notice improvements as early as a few weeks, the most impactful results will not occur until your body has time to flush out the treated fat cells. It typically takes one to three months to see more significant results, with full results taking six months or more.

How Many CoolSculpting Treatments Do I Need?

Multiple CoolSculpting sessions optimize results. Most people benefit from having at least two, but CoolSculpting treatment plans are highly individualized. The optimal number of sessions varies based on body type, amount of fat and the desires of the patient. Since a predictable amount of fat is removed in each session in most patients, we can estimate the number of cycles required to achieve your goals during your consultation.
