Resonic

Resonic™

See smoother skin with nonsurgical cellulite removal

Cellulite is one of the most widespread cosmetic concerns in the world. In fact, it’s so common that a 2018 article in the International Journal of Women’s Dermatology reports that up to 90% of adult women have it! Despite its prevalence, physicians and scientists have struggled to offer an effective solution for cellulite.

That is changing. With the release of Resonic, we finally have a way to reduce cellulite with minimal side effects and long-lasting results. Dr. Burns has spent years involved in the development and use of cellulite reduction technologies, and having tried many throughout his career, he believes Resonic is the best yet. Resurrect Skin MD is proud to be one of the first practices in the world to offer Resonic.

What Is Resonic?

Resonic is the only FDA-cleared device that shows long-term results out to 52 weeks. Its innovative and noninvasive Rapid Acoustic Pulse (RAP) technology can improve the appearance of cellulite after just one session.

This technology is unique among cellulite reduction treatments in its mechanism of action and long-lasting results. Resonic produces very high acoustic (sound) waves in extremely short time periods called pulses and emits them at very high repetitive rates (frequency).

No other device comes close to the high power produced with such short pulse widths and such high frequencies.

The result is a repetitive “shocking” of the soft tissue that breaks the collagen bands under each cellulite depression or dimple. The extremely powerful sound waves travel through the skin up to 50 times per second, disrupting the collagen bands without damaging other skin structures in the area.

Why Is Resonic the Preferred Cellulite Treatment at RSMD?

Dr. Burns has been a leader in developing, testing and using cellulite reduction technologies for many years. His experience includes: Co-authoring the FDA study that led to the approval of a laser cellulite treatment, serving on the scientific advisory board for a minimally-invasive surgical procedure for cellulite, and working with an injectable that breaks down the fibrous bands that cause cellulite.

These technologies have not yet lived up to their potential and Dr. Burns’ standards for his patients. Some cause significant side effects, such as bruising, bleeding and discomfort, that can last for weeks. The results are often short-lived, and the technologies struggle to address the most common type of cellulite (the linear depressions and loose skin).

All cellulite treatment modalities face these challenges, but the Resonic device has shown greater improvement and longer-lasting results for all types of cellulite with minimal side effects, manageable discomfort and no need for downtime. The results of this nonsurgical, noninvasive treatment are still variable from patient to patient, but Dr. Burns believes it is the most effective solution available today.

What Are the Benefits of Resonic?

These are some of the reasons we’ve chosen Resonic at RSMD:

  • Noninvasive, FDA-cleared device
  • No anesthesia or needles
  • Targets the root cause of cellulite
  • Minimal side effects and discomfort
  • No downtime required
  • Results can be achieved after one session
  • Safe to use on all skin types

What Areas Can Resonic Target?

Resonic is currently FDA-cleared for cellulite reduction in the following areas:

  • Buttocks
  • Outer thighs
  • Inner thighs
  • Lower thighs

The manufacturer is continuing to evaluate Resonic’s safety and efficacy for other parts of the body, with the goal of expanding its uses in the future.

Resonic’s RAP technology is completely different from any cellulite treatment we’ve seen before. I’ve worked with the most used and most popular cellulite reduction technologies in the industry, and I have found all of them lacking. Resonic may not be perfect in treating this challenging condition, but it is giving us the best results yet and the technology will only continue to improve in the future.

Am I a Good Candidate for Resonic?

Resonic is a versatile solution for a range of ages, bodyweights and skin tones. The patients who receive the best results from this treatment tend to have more dimples and less skin laxity. If loose skin is your primary concern, you may see better results with a skin tightening energy treatment or a surgical lifting procedure.

Resonic is not a treatment for:

  • Preventing future cellulite
  • Losing weight
  • Losing inches
  • Body contouring / sculpting

We know that every patient is unique and has their own needs. To make sure you find the right treatment fit, we’ll start with a consultation and design a custom plan just for you.

What Should I Expect During My Resonic Treatment?

Resonic is a nonsurgical, noninvasive acoustic cellulite treatment. During your session, your RSMD provider will pass the Resonic device over your skin while it emits high-frequency sound waves. The sound waves soften the fibrous bands (septae) that pull down on your skin and cause cellulite dimples. When the tension in the bands relaxes, so does your skin, giving it a smoother appearance.

This acoustic treatment has also been shown to thicken the epidermis and cause new elastin and collagen formation to a variable degree, depending on the individual patient’s immune response to the injury.

There can be discomfort with Resonic when treating over bony prominences, but there is minimal pain, and the treatment does not require anesthesia. The standard length of the treatment for the thighs and buttock area is approximately one hour.

Is There Downtime After a Resonic Treatment?

There is no required downtime after Resonic cellulite treatments. Some patients experience mild side effects, including a feeling of heat, minor discomfort or tingling, and temporary redness in the treated area. These usually resolve within a few hours and should not prevent you from returning to your usual activities.

What Results Are Expected With Resonic?

Resonic has been cleared by the FDA for “long-term” improvement of cellulite. So far, it has been tested out to one year and 93% of patients in the study group were satisfied with their results. Although we do not yet have data that covers a longer timeframe, historically if a result lasts for a year, we find that the improvement is likely to last longer.

All areas of your body are subject to aging and lifestyle factors, treated and untreated alike. Taking care of your skin and maintaining a healthy lifestyle will give your results the best shot at longevity. The Resonic treatment can be repeated if you do not achieve your desired results with one session or you require a maintenance treatment later on. This choice is up to the patient and depends on multiple factors, including their results, expectations and goals.

Our patients are always looking for treatments that have minimal discomfort, use no needles or incisions, and require little to no downtime. They don’t want empty promises. Resonic has enough scientific support that the FDA approved it for ‘long-term improvement of cellulite’ and we believe it is the best treatment among the current options. We became an early adopter because we wanted to get it to our patients as soon as possible. This is what we always do at RSMD.
